Apologies for the downtime; I had to rewrite every one of my sd cards so they can be used elsewhere. Fortunately, the old sd card that has sat in my pi for years, witnessing the evolution of countless previous projects since their inception, has finally been retired, with a long life of solitude in my desk ahead of it.

As of writing, the site is running on a 32gb card from a psvita, with a brand new 64gb one acting as backup. With this upgrade, I expect the loading times of pages to be significantly improved, as the old card was on the verge of death at a pathetic ~5mb/s, saved only by cloudflare’s convenient caching. I hope we will no longer need to rely on it with the server’s main bottleneck out of the way.

Sites back up guys, sorry for the delay.

A couple hours back, the site got raided by a couple dozen feds saying they were from r/markiplier and spamming hundreds of wojacks on the site, replacing the entire catalog with their retarded jpegs.

Thankfully, their infamous glow gave them off, and the poor 12yr old autists were absolved of any guilt.

As for the site, I simply copied my backup image onto the server and turned it back on, reverting it to a previous state. Unfortunately, the last backup was from September 22, so you might find a fair few threads missing, but there’s nothing i can do about it.

I am going to take some measures to prevent this from happening again in future and will report back when I figure something out. Until then, make a few posts to liven up this antique backup.

Just bought us the new domain at comfychan.org. Pretty fancy, right? An org domain with a name like that means we can gain a bit more legitimacy in the altchan space.

Il keep the old one running but I recommend switching to the new one, as this is the first and only one we legally own and that hopefully won’t ever disappear.

Since the very beginning, I was always a little unsure about this sites name; is it “classy-chan” or “classic Chan”? Truthfully, even I don’t know.

That’s why I’m thinking of renaming it to “comfychan”. It’s easy to pronounce, is equally descriptive, and much more related to imageboard culture.

Hey, looking at the past through rose-colored glasses was a pretty decent move on my part. People want to gaslight themselves into thinking that the past was better than the present, and this was useful for me because a place “better” than 4chan sounds too optimistic to most, no matter how low that bar is. So my best option was to raise that bar.
