Same with Breaking bad right?

there's an excellent analysis of the sopranos on the washington post(of all places) that makes a very good case that the show is about the end of the american dream.

there are so many examples from the show. one scene where tony talks to aj in a church about italiian immigrant stone masons building the church, a foundation for their new life as americans, with a much later scene with furio, himself something of an immigrant, driving blankly past an expanse of strip malls. it's further reinforced when furio tells carmela he's buying a house. she asks if he'll apply for citizenship and he says "you don't need that"

kind of annoys me people consider them on the same level tbh
dont get me wrong bb is GREAT but sopranos trascends it easy
bb is just so focused on action and narrative, it does really feel like an exploration of the human condition in the same way sopranos is
I'd say BCS comes close though, but Sopranos wins because it's more interesting
in many ways it's the perfect combination of the navel gazing of BCS and the action of breaking bad

yeah isn't it the first episode tony says "you ever feel like you came in at the end of something?"
think that's how most people born since the 90's feel

I remember seeing that whole take. I can't help with agree with it. I mean, look at the finale itself. The once vibrant atmosphere is cold and rotten. The dream is gone. It's all changed.
